Leigh Ann Lunsford can write a damn story
let me tell you. The story of Luke and Phoebe, although, angsty, is also
heartbreaking and beautiful. I think she
secretly sits in her writing cave cackling with new ideas of how to have her
readers fall in love with her characters only to rip it away for about 30% of
the book. Even though she is guaranteed to rip your heart out you can’t help
but come back for more because in the end you are left with a love story that
was beautifully written.
Best friends, protectors, crushes and in
the end saviors. Luke has been the rock for Phoebe since she was four years
old. When fate hands them another blow and decisions are made Luke makes the
only choice he can. Phoebe is strong willed and you will instantly like her.
You may not understand her decisions when life gets tough but you will
undeniably understand her choice to chase the healing she so desperately needs.
Some authors just get it. They get what
speaks to the reader and know how to put it together to make you feel like you
are the one in the story experiencing all the emotions and Ms. Lunsford is one
of those authors. You will either want to strangle her for making your heart
beat at a pace that isn’t normal or kiss her for giving you a book that will undeniably,
be a book you will be thinking about for weeks.
