Pieces of Paisley by Leigh Ann Lunsford

I’m not sure where to start with this review. I fell in love fast- I guess I could start with saying I was sucked in with a girl who was sassy and fierce, and I love to read about a girl who can throw down with the best of them. Then enter Jake- the first eye contact, the possessiveness, and then the possibility of a relationship we all dream of.  Ms. Lunsford's ability to take characters and let them grow, but also let them be human and make mistakes just like we all do will have you falling in deep with them.

Jake and Paisley start out with the way most relationships do- with a look that cements everything.  Paisley is young and wise beyond her years. Watching these two make decisions that will affect what is perfect will make you want to drink, scream and cuss the author. These two will break your heart and make you hope all in the same sentence. I knew once he left for the Navy all my hopes of no angst would dissolve in a puddle.

Ms. Lunsford’s writing blew me away. I felt like I was trapped in some other world watching people who I have grown to love- fall apart. That wasn’t ok with me, I felt every damn tear and heart break that each one of these characters felt. I wanted them to build this life, not a life like the one that was ripped from them, but a new one- a better one. Although, at times, I’m pretty sure my jaw dropped open and stayed that way throughout numerous chapters just trying to keep up with the drama, fights and love matches it is well worth all the emotions you will experience from pissed off to wanting to scream…FINALLY.

Left Behind by Vi Keeland and Dylan Scott

I adored this book, the story and especially Nikki and Zach. Every once in a while I need to be reminded of young love and unbreakable bonds. Even at a young age pain can be served up in many ways, but it can also forge two people together. These two authors take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions, hope and in the end a future full of dreams. I couldn’t manage to put this book down once I started. I just kept thinking I need to know what is going to happen.

Zach and Nikki are both lost souls. While one has lost all hope the other is fighting to find a path back to a past she never got to be part of. Sometimes searching for secrets also tears you apart and Nikki finds out that everything she came to dream upon was a lie- or so she thought. What I loved about Nikki is that she was a fighter. She still had the spunk even when her world was falling down around her.  Zach; you just have to have a soft spot in your heart for this guy. He is so sweet, protective and once he realizes that Nikki is the one, nothing will stop him from having her.

This is the kind of book that makes you just want to grab your favorite blanket and sit down in your favorite chair and do nothing but read. You will instantly love Zach and Nikki and the chemistry that these two share. It’s a web of lies, secrets, loss and love. It’s addictive and leaves you wanting more of the story of how two people, who went through hell, fight to come out together in the end.

Conquered by L.P. Lovell

Ms. Lovell does it again. I’m hopelessly in love with a man named Theo. I asked for more possessiveness and boy did I get it ten-fold. It’s not too often that a second book in a trilogy can leave me wanting- needing more.  I usually find them repetitive, but you will find that Conquered dives deeper than just some smart sass and hot as shit sex. You get to see the people within the more in-depth side of the two people you met in book 1. These people are broken, hurt and treading water that seems to slowly be pulling them under.

Theo and his hot factor raised the bar for any man who will follow him. Is he hurting and grasping at straws- hell yes. He is also out to get what is his- and that comes in the form of one red headed female who has managed to put up walls that are impenetrable.

Lilly has demons and although you get to see what is behind the façade you also get to see the real person, the scared person - the one who can be hurt much deeper than what Theo can dish out. Don’t worry though, Theo comes barging in like the GD Kool-aide man breaking down walls and claiming Lilly as his. Insert my swooning here.

Although I love Lilly I can’t help but let the part of me that is totally obsessed with Theo come to the forefront. It’s unbelievable that I can love Lilly so much in the first book and yet be completely, undeniably in love with Theo in book 2. Love might conquer all, but to get there it’s an ugly and long road. A road filled with lies and betrayal and an ending that will have you pissed off and in awe all at the same time
