There are books you fly right through and there are books that
take you days to read because you are just enjoying the read and letting it all
slowly sink in. The latter was what Hot-Blooded was for me. The book had a
little bit of everything that keeps you intrigued and turned on at the same
time. I know there will be the people who bitch about the missing HEA. For me,
though, it’s all about the send-off. Leaves you wanting more and wanting to
choke the author all at the same time. It’s like being denied an orgasm, but
feeling horny despite the abrupt ending.
When tragedy strikes Kea goes from a sweet child to badass bitch
and protector of her brothers overnight. When failure is not an option she
takes matters into her own hands. Her future is now making sure her Ohana is
protected and cared for. Enter Blake. I wasn’t sure about him for at least 40%
of the book. He is the type of character that grows on you. You may not agree
with his motives, but you find yourself holding your breath hoping he makes the
right decisions. They are both trying to protect family - blood or no blood,
but somewhere questions start to form about who to trust and who to kill.
I can’t tell you how many times I questioned the author's sanity
while reading this book. I mean who has these stories in their head. I don’t
know whether to be turned on or freaked out with some of the twists and turns
the book takes. The only thing you need to know is this story is different.
It’s new and refreshing and a weird kind of twisted perfection.
